Current Research Projects

Knob Size in the Mute Swan (Cygnus olor): A possible indicator of individual quality. In collaboration with Dr. Peter Lüps (NMBE) and graduate students of University of Bern.

Origin and Radiation of Neotropical Parrots (Psittacidae). Molecular and anatomical study, in collaboration with Dr. Thomas Binz. Supported by Silva-Casa Foundation.

Possible Causes of Crested Newts (Triturus cristatus) decline. In collaboration with graduate students of University of Bern.

Provenance of historical bird collections at NMBE, especially specimens from John Gould’s collection, specimens donated by Robert J. Shuttleworth and Theophil Studer. In collaboration with Frank Steinheimer, Tring and Nürnberg.
